When deciding to go commando for the day, and taking the dog for a walk,, make sure you wear pants with a zipper that doesn’t slide down on itself.

Live Blogging McCain

He’s gonna get underway soon.

In the meantime, I’m watching the GIants beat the Redskins (yeah!!!). And lusting over our next Vice President.

So, as Andrew Rump Rancher Sullivan (I point out his blatant aids infected homosexuality - not to discriminate against gay people, but to show how one sided and unfair his idiotic criticims of Sarah Palin are) continues his descent into delusional and Olbermanesque Obamamamania, I continue to remain fastinated by his concern over “vetting.” Cause, seriously, if she wasn’t vetted and there was something seriously wrong with her . . . . well then the Republican base would be the ones to lose, and he’d stand to gain everything. So far, that hasn’t happened, all they can come up with are some pretty pathetic, petty, and sexist complaints about OTHERS in her family.

video is playing - is it wise to say he didn’t love his country till he was shot down?

sorry, just not paying attention. hes too boring

i liked how he reached out to Obama “we are both Americans”

dont be diverted by ground noise and static. good line.
completely classy

he ought to ask why Barak is trying to interupt his speech with these anti American protesters

hes on a roll now talking about the loss of trust

nukes nukes nukes

nuclear and drilling, using OUR resources are the secrfet to independence

hell yeah!

strong ending, story of treatment as POW was good Call to fight at the end was powerful

LOVE how he attacked GOP

“A clusterfuck and lost opportunity”

Just off the phone with two of my outside consulants. One is a former senior clinton staffer (white house and #2 at cabinet agency) and the other is a senior Obama advisor and long time Teddy Kennedy staffer.

Both think Obama has blown it, is at risk of losing the base of anti war left wing nutjobs who don’t get politics, won’t get Hillary voters and has no way of winning strong gun rights rust belt union workers. In their mind Biden hurts, more than helps in PA and Ohio (both were pushing for Sebulis).

Think he is going to need to be incredibly lucky - via major fumble by McCain - to actually win.

What Round For A Shark??

Seriously.

While sharks are all fine and good when I’m out fishing for them, a big one can scare the crap out of you when your in a flimsy kayak.

And St Simons has a bunch - though thankfully they like to breed here, not eat people here. Still, as I was out on my Kayak in the intercoastal/St Simons River bay about 1/2 mile from shore, I saw what I thought at first was a dolphin but ended up being a 5 or 6 foot hammerhead come up near the surface.

That’ll put the fear of god in you.

I had my S&W Model 66 (stainless) with 6 rounds of lead nose .357 Mag with me, but frankly I have no idea what good that would do in an actually shark attack.

I usually carry it when I go out more for the occaisional gater you find in the backwaters.

But I’m wondering, if a shark came after my kayak (something I doubt they would do as at 17 feet its longer than most of them, and hollow and plastic) would a gun have any impact???

UPDATE

Sounds like a .45 will do the trick . . . . for a gator at least.

Star Wars Clone Wars

Sitting here with my son. Its awful. Well, I shouldn’t say that. The story is interesting but its a cartoon, like a bad Saturday afternoon cartoon. But Lucas is a genius.

My son is 6 and is totally enthralled by the movie, and the theater is packed with other kids his age - all sitting in quiet mesmerization.

Pretty impressive for a 2:30 Saturday matinee showing

Oh, also, it cost me $30 - $6 each for admission and $18 for a slushie, medium coke, medium popcorn and a small nachos.

UPDATE

Not a bad movie. Heck, had Lucas done this as a live action flick I think he’d do pretty good at the box office. It was certainly more action packed than some of the more recent ones - though I have to say that I don’t mind any of the prequels even if I hate parts of Part I (that amphibian) and Part II (that love scene).

Obama Biden

The single most outwardly hostile campaign the 2nd Amendment has ever seen.

The NRA will have a field day with this one. Might be time for folks to pull out that CNN You Tube video question to Biden on the 2nd Amendment.

an Incredible Amount of Water

We just returned to St Simons. Actually, still in the car. Anyway, I’ve never seen the river or marsh around the isldand so high - and low tide is 1 hour away at 7:08.

Our condos right on the beach, it will be interesting to see what that looks like.

Statesboro Blues

Well, were back in Statesboro and heading back to St Simons Island. Wife wanted to stop by the Georgia Southern bookstore to get a t-shirt or sweatshirt or something and I’m parked in front of Solar Rays Tanning, featuring Solaeis Sunless spray tanning.

I now know where the hot tang hangs out and am reminded that I too once went to get a tan in order to immerse myself in top notch tail.

SHTF

Our departure this morning came quick. We don’t expect any problems, and certainly no looting, but had to drive through Brunswick, GA which is a rough town.

So, we took what we had in our two car caravan. I’ve got a kel Tec, the wife’s got the S&W Model 66. Nd I have my Marlin 336

One other thing, it would have been MUCH less stressful to bail on 15 minutes notice than in a full days notice. Shit, were only staying away for 2 night but we’ve grabbed 2 weeks worth of crap.

A Sad State of Affairs

In Statesboro, GA and decided to swing by the campus of Georgia Southern. Their football team is always great and my wife almost went there (instead of UT Knoxville).

Well, the main entrance is pretty enough but its got one ugly ass student body. I haven’t seen a single co-ed worthy of a cheap college sex flick (think porkys). Which is surprising, since this place should be CRAWLING with top notch southern tail.

Perhaps their all back in the frat houses.

Hurricane Blogging (or, well I’ll Be A Horses Ass)

Filed under:Uncategorized — posted by Countertop on @ 9:45 am

So, you may have noticed the blogging is a bit light the last few days/weeks (did someone say 5 years?!?!?). We travel every August to the gorgeous Golden Islands of the South East GA coast - always staying on St Simons Island where my wife has family (well, not anymore, but historically and up till about 3 years ago).

Anyway, this year instead of getting a place for a week we decidwed we’d get the same condo we rent every year for a full month. She’s been down 2 1/2 weeks, I got down Friday.

I was greeted by my mother in law (who was here last week) affixed to the weather channel and worrying about this tiny tropical storm way off in the southern Atlantic. Each day she grew more and more concerned, as I dismissed her concerns as ludicrous - everyone knows St Simons doesn’t get hit by Hurricanes - they ALWAYS strike Jacksonville and below or Savanha and above - the gulf stream acts as a natural shield.

Well, slap me with a shit stick….it looks like were gonna get hit. Or at least jacksonville is, 20 miles south. That’s enough for us. Just don’t want to get caught on the beach as the hurricane hits at high tide with two little kids. We’re drive Northwest to Swainsboro and staying with some other cousins.

Have A Great Weekend!

I’ll be hitting the Virginia Sportsman’s Show tomorrow, compliments of the Roanoke Times, and then visiting the trainer to work out with the dog. Gonna go try and shoot some skeet Saturday as well.

Will be out deer scouting on Sunday.

Enjoy

Firearms Training

I’m sure by now you’ve all heard about the ad in the Washington Post, put up by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and promoting First Shots, and their free gun training for DC residents.

When Washington, D.C. residents open three of their local papers this morning, they’ll see a statement - and an invitation - from the firearms industry.

The Full-page ad, running in the Washington Post, Washington Times and The Hill tells residents, media members and the ever-present politicians about a firearms training opportunity put together by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade organization described in the ad as representing a “responsible industry”.

The D.C. Venue is the Arlington-Fairfax Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, located at 14708 Mount Olive Rd in Centreville, VA. The training session is taking place early, Sunday August 24th.

This happens to be my local gun club. I won’t be around, I’ll be on vacation that day . . . as I suspect others will.

Which brings me to my long standing pledge, which bears repeating here. As posted at Publicola’s - it was as follows

I do my shooting at the NRA Range in Northern Virginia (DC area).
Conditions - I’ll provide a hand gun, ammo, and range fees, they just
need to give me as much advanced notice as possible (scheduling is
always an issue) and be willing to sit down and take the NRA Range
test - part of the instruction includes my assistance in completing
the test (the NRA uses it as an educational tool).”

I’m still willing to meet you, at the NRA, but would much prefer (weather permitting) to do this over at the Izaak Walton League - and can take anyone out to shoot pistol, rifle, or shotgun - their choice (or all three).

Just let me know.

Spam

Getting it - getting a ton of it - but luckily the Spam filter is catching it all.

Interesting though, the things I learn looking through spam.

I knew about cialis; and that I’ve got a small penis and if only I paid $25 I could be guaranteed a Gargantuan, Lady Fainting, John Holmes impressiveness; and that my neighbors were having orgy’s and waiting for me to join; and that gay boys are readily available for my pleasure; and pre teen queens; and animals . . . . . . but what I didn’t get is that I could have my way with a Strap On Wearing Transexual . . . as if I’d need the strap on if she had a dick.
