The other netflix flick that came in this week was The Shooter with Marky Mark

Best Line:

Welcome to Tennessee, patron state of shooting stuff.

As I’m sure ya’ll know, its the updated screen version of Stephen Hunters terrific Point of Impact. While the political overtones are typical hollyweird trash, the gun play and action are superb.

Turns out, Wahlberg trained at Front Sight in advance of making the film, and the DVD special features includes a detailed look at that experience.

If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it

Got the certificate, and the DVD, in the mail today. Well, at least thats when I stumbled upon it.

Just watched the DVD. Sadly, it makes me less enthused about the place. I don’t know what it is, whether its the infomercial quality of the recording (right down to the D-list hollywood celebrities they profile) or the “cultish” nature of the “life member” program. And whats with those weird uniforms??

I know its got a great reputation, and I do appreciate all they are trying to accomplish (and have accomplished) but I think from the perspective of an outsider, it just strikes me as a bit odd. That said, I still intend to visit. My summer and fall are already pretty booked, right up till New Years. What I am thinking (well, my wife recommended) is that I head out over winter break when she takes the kids down to Georgia.

Might very well do that.

and for what its worth, looks like I may also have a chance to visit Blackwater USA in North Carolina.
