So let me get this straight.

A former pro bowl quaterback was running around behind his wife’s back, with a drug addict cocktail waitress – and the wife had no idea there were any problems in the relationship while the drug addict cocktail waitress had told her family that she was selling her furniture to move in with Mr. Quarterback since he was in the process of divorcing his wife (which wasn’t happening) and then . . . . something happens to make her want to shoot this guy and then kills herself (like, perhaps . . . and I’m just speculating here – Mr. Quarterback told her he was married and not getting a divorce) and we are supposed to think this is the gun’s fault??

Right.

Viva La Revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m praying for the Iranian people.

As Uncle points out,

The pictures are amazing. People are throwing rocks at snipers. And the mullahs can’t stop the signal. The trouble for the citizens is that they will be crushed when the government decides it has had enough. That is happening now.

I wish them the best. But, more so, I wish they had rifles.

Interestingly, the NY Times editorial page (well, at least Thomas Friedman) also understands this dynamic.

Second, even if defeated electorally, the Islamists and their regimes have a trump card: guns. Guns trump cellphones. Bang-bang beats tweet-tweet. The Sunni Awakening in Iraq succeeded because the moderates there were armed. I doubt Ahmadinejad will go peacefully.

But of course, no but the government needs guns, right????

Chrysler and Guns

So this post by the Instapundit got me thinking about how Obama is gonna ban guns.

THE CHRYSLER FALLOUT: Obama Takes Sides. “The question becomes: are we just bailing out a bunch of politically-connected billionaires? Whenever you get a chance, ask anyone who will listen: Why has President Obama not told us what he plans to give Cerberus in exchange for Chrysler?”

What does this have to do with guns?

Well, Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. stands to receive Billions with a B from the forced sale of Chrysler (not to mention that they own 51% of GMAC . . . . low and behold, right now all new Chrysler financing will be handled through GMAC). They also own, amongst other firms Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., Remington Arms, Cobb Manufacturing, DPMS Panther Arms, and Marlin Firearms.

That’s not everyone, but boy is that a hefty share of the gun businesses.

And don’t think VPC/Brady/Joyce (and therefore Obama) don’t realize it.

The question is – how much does Cerberus really value our Second Amendment rights? Enough to risk tens of billions of dollars????? And will George Kollitides allow the tens of billions that Obama/VPC/Brady/Joyce are holding over his head influence the NRA??

Buy A Gun Day

Its coming. And I’ve got some cash burnign a hole in my pocket. I was thinking I might get a handgun, then thought – with black rifle prices HIGH and hunting prices LOW – I might look at getting a Fox or Parker or LC Smith side by side.

But then, I thought maybe a SIG 556.

Anyone have thoughts on them?

Quote of the Week

Valencia Mohammed, the director of Mothers of Unsolved Murders, a D.C. advocacy group for mothers of homicide victims

She is speaking about the D.C. Voting Bill which looks likely to come up for a vote – with the language repealing the District of Columbia’s gun control laws intact – before Congress breaks for Easter recess.

Oh yeah, she has also lost two kids to gun/gang violence in Washington, D.C.

“This is one of the inalienable rights that I wanted,” she said. “I want my vote to be counted. I want representation in Congress. And I also want the right to bear arms.

“I’m just looking at the history of my ancestors and what they went through and how they were shot and killed, tarred and feathered and burned to death,” she said. “Guns was one of those things that they could not have and a tool for other people that kept them enslaved. I’m saying no more of that. I want to enjoy all of those rights that they were denied. . . . It’s time.”

I have sent her an email and have offered to buy her lunch at the downtown restaurant of her choice.

Kel Tec Update: Carry Guns

They say, the best gun to have is the one you have with you.

In that regard, its time for an admission. The P11 has worked its way into my heart as my primary, go to, gun.

Sure, its plastic. And was dirt cheap. And shoots the horrendous 9mm Europellet. And not very accurate past 15 yards.

All things my Colt NRM 1991A1 isn’t it.

And while I purchased the Kel Tec as a summer carry gun, here I am in January and still dealing with the fact that I’ve actually walked out of the house only 3 times in the last 6 months with the Colt on my hip (and I was still carrying the Kel Tec in my pocket on those occasions).

What is it about the Kel Tec that allows it to replace a gun 5 times its cost? Well, its small, and light. It fights well in my hand. And it conceals easily. Very easily.

But still, it shoots the dreaded 9mm Europellet. Perhaps I should think about looking at Colt Commanders. But even then, I don’t know if they are small enough to displace the position the Kel tec has taken in my life.

Just crossed into Tennessee on the annual winter pilgimage south. Just over the border from virginia I was greated by the beautiful sight of a tommy gun, essentially the size of 4 tractor trailers, advertising a class III firearms dealer Gun Runners USA.

God Bless America and God Bless Tennessee.

It would warrant turning around and getting a picture, but I need to meet SaysUncle and Les Jones for the annual machine gun shoot at Coal Creek Armory. Plus, ill drive right by in a couple of weeks again anyway.

Safe

Filed under:Commerce, The Kids Are Alright — posted by Countertop on December 7, 2008 @ 11:23 am

Well, that time has finally arrived.

I’ve managed to avoid getting a real gun safe – or, well, security locker – so far.

For the most part, I had my rifles stored in a couple of spots which were largely inaccessible to my oldest son. Handguns were in a Sentry lackable file cabinet and at least locked away. But the rifles and shotguns were certainly possible for him to get ahold of.

But it hadn’t been a problem. Until last week, when my wife and I took a much needed trip to Naples, Fl. Grandma was watching the kids, and proceeded to tell me how my oldest showed her where my guns where.

Now, he did it after she pried it out of him – so I’m a bit ticked at her for that – but her point was clear and correct, nonetheless.

and, as luck would have it, Dicks was having a sale on “gun safes.”. I picked up the 19 gun “safe” for $399. Damn, it weighed a lot – 275lbs – but with a dolly and a friend I managed to get it in and installed last night.

Of course, its not as fancy as Sebastians new safe (but then, I just got a new car and have major renovations underway at home) and its clearly closer to file cabinet security than safe (the walls are pretty thin, and the three locking bolts could easily be pride open) but for my purposes (keeping guns safe and secure from prying little kids – and maybe forcing a thief to think twice – or even just slowing him down till the cops cross the street) its fine.

And at $399, it strikes me as a good deal ($412 with tax).

Bleg 1 & Bleg 2

Bleg 1: The outlook Bleg.

Here’s the deal. We have an organization that used to be the same as ours, but because of Congressional mischief we needed to spin off. My counterpart there is a good guy, but an engineer and definite type B (or C) personality. Nothing wrong with that, he’s the engineer I’m the lawyer. We make a good teamn. But sometimes he gets sensative if I forge ahead and forget to call. His boss asked if I could just, to keep him happyn make random weekly “shoot the shit” phone calls.

So my bleg #1 is this, is there an outlook plugin that won’t wreck havock which can randomly schedule weekly phone calls at various times?

Bleg #2: Barack wins. Son #1 says” does this mean I won’t ever be able to own a gun?”. I promise to get him an AR15 lower and build him (and his brother) each one for X-mas. I find lowers. I say I’m gonna buy them, then I have to travel and get back and said lowers are 1) sold or 2) $300 bucks.

So, anyone know where I can order 2 lowers tonight/tomorrow at reasonable proces ($150 or so)??

Gods, Guns, and Guitars

Filed under:Firearms, Music, pr0n, video — posted by Countertop on November 5, 2008 @ 2:09 am

It seems, that in addition to being a guitar god, Eric Clapton also fancies himself something of a gun nut. Luckily for some rich folks, his collection has grown too big and he needs to sell some guns off to make room for others.

Clapton has claimed that his passion has gotten out of hand in much the same way his guitar collection did. Its following the same pattern as when I collected guitars, cars and watches. I start out with a fairly broad spectrum, get obsessed and engulfed and finally narrow the collection down. I built a gunroom that can house a certain amount of guns and now I have to clear the decks for the new guns I have on order.

Oh to have his problems.

And I think this comment, sums it up nicely

O-shit- Clapton is even cooler than I thought.

But enough of that, here’s some pictures (and yes, thats Eric playing guitar in the engraving)
