A Republican No More

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NATIONAL POLITICS AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE LOCAL PARTY

Attended Virginia’s 10 District Convention on Saturday, where I hung with my buddy Ken Cuccinelli and went through a Florida recount like ordeal for having the nerve to stand in line for 15 minutes at the wrong table before being told where I needed to go to register (There were a dozen of us) and then told registration is closed.

In any case, after 45 minutes of testimony, votes, revotes, and bitter fighting, I was passed on a 4-3 vote from the Registration Committee - only to be greeted by a mass of bigots, single issue “pro life” radicals, racists, and the fighting Ron Paul Revolutionaries (who lost, big time, by the way).

In the 2 hours I then sat and listened between finally registering and being able to cast my ballot - I came to a conclusion. The Republican Party - the party of Reagan and of TR and of Eisenhower and Lincoln is no longer the party for me. Sure, I’ll vote (and work hard) to elect John McCain, but I have no desire to be associated with these myopic, self absorbed lunatics anymore

The Virginia Citizen’s Defense League, in honor of that schmuck of a Democrat gun banning bigot Richard Saslaw (D-Fairfax), has decided to host open carry lunch’s and dinners every weeken in the month of April throughout that schmuck of a Democrat gun banning bigot Richard Saslaw’s district. They actually got things started last night at Ocean M right in my hometown of McLean.

Wish I could have made it, but alas I had familial obligations that had to take presedence.

Anyway, I plan to be there next week and at least a couple of others times this month.

But thats not the point here - rather, its the fact that I went right into the heart of that schmuck of a Democrat gun banning bigot Richard Saslaw’s district tonight with the family for dinner - to IHOP on the Fairfax Circle (IHOP food sucks, but they were doing a Horton Hears a Who tie in and my son got some disgustingly sweet food - I shudder to call it that - which he absolutely devoured) and I decided to open carry. Not so much as a batted eye - and trust me,

Do you want mp3 music download from online mp3 archive, Don’t know where download mp3 music for ipod mp3 player

Vote

Its Election Day, Stupid

Get Out And Vote (and Defeat Tom Davis and the bigoted forces of evil everywhere) !

UPDATE - 9:15 pm

So far Chap Petersen is CRUSHING the Bloomberg Loving Gun Banning Bigot Jeanmarie Devolites Davis

With 28% of the precinct reporting, Chap is up 60% (6,074 votes )to 40% (4,006 votes)

UPDATE - 10:50 pm

Its over!!!

Jeanmarie Devolites Davis is finite!!!

But of course, Mark Fisher is denying that guns had anything to do with this race

Fairfax, Va.: Since Tom Davis and his wife seem to have based the entirety of her race (but really, its their race as her loss to Chap is going to spell his political doom) on the issue of guns these last few weeks, will The Post finally discuss what a loser of an issue gun control really is (and how nearly everything any representative of the Brady Campaign or Million Mom March ever states is largely dishonest or otherwise designed to deceive uneducated voters).

My hope, as I’ve posted before, is that these people will finally go away and we can start talking about real issues (and for that matter, real solutions to urban violence instead of the routine fall back of “more gun control” when a politician doesn’t want to address the real cause of crime)

Marc Fisher: Certainly it’s true that gun control does not win elections in Virginia, with the small exception of a few inside the Beltway districts where they rarely have contested elections in the first place. But guns were not the dominant issue in the Petersen-Davis race. Party label was more important, as well as transportation and the whole NoVa/RoVa funding unfairness issue.

UPDATE - 11:23 pm

While Ken Cuccinelli has been running neck and neck all night long, for most of the evening he’s been a consistent 4 points down. According to the data at the Washington Post, he just pulled ahead.

With 79% of precincts reporting the race is a virtual dead heat with both candidates at 50%, but Ken has a lead on total votes 15,847 to 14,885.

I’ve got to fly out to the midwest (again, I’ve got 6 more trips between now and Christmas, ugh) tomorrow at 7:00 am, which means I’m going to bed.

Final tally’s and some thoughts on what this means for Virginia tomorrow.

UPDATE - 5:50 am

It was a fantastic day for the 2nd Amendment. Not only did Chap Petersen win, but Ken Cuccinelli appears to have squeaked out a 94 votes victory after the last precinct, the absentee ballots, came in.

According to Kens email, that’s a mere 2 and 1/2 votes per precinct. Who says your vote doesn’t count????

A recount is likely, but with the electronic machines I think its pretty tough to beat him. I’ve volunteered my services tomorrow, after I get back from todays trip.

UPDATE - 6:15 am
Heh! It gets better.

Here in McLean my worthless, tax assessing, Tom Davis worshipping, gun banning, RINO member of the Board of Supervisors, Joan DuBoise, the Buggering Bitch also fell to a Democrat who has campaigned on a message of keeping property taxes in check.

Chap Petersen for Virginia Senate

Please Help Me Support Chap Petersen for Virginia State Senate
If you can’t be here in Virginia to help defeat Tom Davis’s wife, then please make an online donation to Chap Petersen.

Yesterday, Jeanmarie Devolites Davis (Tom Fucking RINO Davis’s wife) flew the Bloomingidiot into Fairfax County to campaign for her and attack Chap Petersen.

Davis says Petersen veered to the right on gun issues to prepare for his failed bid for lieutenant governor in 2005. Petersen has opposed measures to allow local jurisdictions to ban guns in libraries and other government buildings, and he supported a measure allowing gun owners to carry weapons in their vehicles while on school property.

“He turned his back on the district he was representing in order to attract voters downstate,” Davis said.

Petersen had his own news conference yesterday, at which he received an endorsement from the International Union of Police Associations, which represents officers and sheriff’s deputies. He criticized Davis for relying on an out-of-state politician for support. He also defended his gun votes by noting that a majority of lawmakers supported the measure exempting concealed-weapon permit holders from a ban on firearms on school property. Even then-Gov. Mark R. Warner (D) signed the bill into law, he said.

“There’s no evidence that this law has led to any violence or put anybody at risk,” Petersen said. In a reference to the slayings of 32 students and faculty members at Virginia Tech this year, he added: “In the wake of Virginia Tech, she’s trying to get a rise out of people.”

What the hell is she running for??? Certainly not to represent the people of Northern Virginia.
She also flew up to be with Wolf Blitzer on CNN’s Situation Room

Screw Her! I just called and volunteered my services for Chap this weekend and on election day. I was going to help out Republicans in my District, but think the greater need is to defeat Tom Davis’s wife.

Even the far left Washington Post realizes this is only a sign of trouble in the Davis household.

—Need another such sign? Check out this new TV ad that Devolites Davis is airing, accusing Petersen of being “wrong and out of touch… when it comes to guns, our children’s safety and illegal aliens.” The ad slams the Democrat for voting when he was a state delegate “to allow illegals to attend our state universities.”

Is this the same Sen. Davis who told me proudly and repeatedly last month that politicians who are out there this campaign season pushing for a crackdown on illegal immigrants are “demagoguing this to death and creating an atmosphere of hate?” Is this the same Sen. Davis who repeated the line about demagoguing at a debate in front of the Mantua Civic Association?

—How desperate is Davis to win? She’s one of two Republicans in northern Virginia who are taking legislative campaign fundraising to a new level this fall: Both Devolites Davis and Warrenton lawyer Jill Holtzman Vogel, who is running to succeed the retiring Sen. Russ Potts, are bumping up against the $1.5 million mark, which is quite remarkable for a state senate race.

Both are in tight, hard-fought races. Both are Republican women who are trying to moderate their images for increasingly Democratic electorates. Their opponents, Petersen of Fairfax City and Karen Schultz of Winchester, respectively, are Democrats who are running to the right of their parties. To watch Schultz’s TV spot, you’d think she was the GOP candidate: She’s touted as a “fiscal conservative” who’s all about “protecting Second Amendment rights.” Devolites Davis–she has been talking about dropping Devolites and going exclusively by her husband’s name after the election–similarly seeks to portray Petersen as the guns, gays and God guy in the race, and indeed the Democrat has a strong pro-gun stance, while the Republican won the endorsement of the state’s gay lobby and takes a stronger rhetorical stand against mixing religion and governance.

But Devolites Davis is nonetheless in trouble in her district, which has become increasingly reliable in its support of Democrats in statewide and national elections. So her husband is pulling out all the stops. He poured $414,000 of resources from his own campaign funds into his wife’s coffers in October, accounting for more than 80 percent of the senator’s receipts in the run-up to Election Day. Much of that money came in the form of purchases of TV time by Congressman Davis’s campaign. If you had contributed to Tom Davis’s campaign, would you want your dollars going to Jeannemarie Davis’s last-minute efforts to save her seat?

If you can’t be here in Virginia to help defeat Tom Davis’s wife, then please make an online donation to Chap Petersen.

UPDATE

Sebastian and Bitter are on it too!

And David Codrea has an interesting tidbit. Seems Davis’s daughter is an armed robber.

J. Chapman Petersen for Senate!

Tom Davis is a turd.

And clueless.

Davis also acknowledged that his swipes at his own party will probably help his wife, state Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis (R-Fairfax), who is in a bruising reelection campaign against Democrat J. Chapman Petersen. A win for Devolites Davis with her husband’s help in an overwhelmingly Democratic district would send a powerful message to Republicans that the Davises’ message of moderation and consensus-building on such issues as gun control and highway funding is the proper model.

I don’t really care about the other stuff. Duh. I’m willing to accept people having different points of view. Thats cool. Its what this country is founded upon, but this turd hasn’t a clue about what is important or not. Gun control is my litmus test, because it is the foundational right by which all my other rights - rights directly descended from god and inherent in nature - are protected.

But this statist, nativist (in the most base, Washingtonian terms) prick doesn’t get it.

He thinks our rights, our civil and natural rights, are simply another chit to be negotiated for or against. He’s clueless in thinking gun control is a conservative Republican issue. It isn’t. There are plenty of worthwhile Democrats who get it. Like his wife’s opponent Chap Petersen.

Not only do Tom Davis and his wife not get it, but they think they are above public scrutiny.

Last night, October 8th, we held a debate at Old Town Hall in downtown Fairfax. Funny thing is … my opponent Senator Devolites-Davis chose not to attend.

Debates at Old Town Hall have a long history in our community. I have been attending them since I was a child and my Dad was running for Fairfax City Council. It is traditional for Delegates and Senators to schedule one. Delegate Jack Rust and I had one in 2001, when I was the Democratic challenger. It was a contest I won’t soon forget, as he was an excellent debater.

The debate last night had been set for over a month. The City Republican and City Democratic Committees were joint sponsors. Both campaigns had it scheduled and Old Town Hall was reserved.

Last week, the Devolites-Davis campaign asked for a ban on recording devices. Of course, we refused. This is a public debate for a public office. Recording debate statements is standard, especially when candidates have a tendency to stray from the truth in their remarks.

I found out over the weekend that the Devolites-Davis campaign would not appear. It was too late to cancel the event so we had a Town Hall instead with 100+ people. They deserved better.

Weak.

Deserve Better Indeed!

Is there a Republicans for Chap chapter around???
He’s got my support (sadly, he won’t get my vote as I live in that worthless turd of a bigot Janet Howell’s district)

Here’s what Chap had to say on the gun issue.

As far as schools, the state law is clear. It is a Class 6 felony in Virginia to possess a firearm on school property. I support that law.

In 2003, the legislature unanimously passed an exception to the law for guns in the locked trunk of a vehicle in a school parking lot. That bill was signed by Governor Warner.

In 2005, the legislature used the “parking lot” exception to include concealed-carry permit holders who arrived to pick up a child. The scope of that bill (HB 2535) was expressly limited to parking lots and driveways. I voted for the bill, it passed by a large margin, and Governor Warner signed it.

The purpose of the bills was to ensure that inadvertent possession of a firearm on school property did not lead to a life-altering felony conviction. While I believe that guns have no place in school, I also recognize that a “one size fits all” law would turn unwitting citizens into felons. As a lawyer and a parent of school children, I made that choice carefully.

He’s not perfect, but he’s straightforward and honest and willing to stand by his record which is far more than your gonna get with any other politician - especially one of the Devolites-Davis ilk.

Senator Devolites-Davis is familiar with the Dillon Rule. In fact, in 2004 she voted “yes” to confirm the state’s prohibition on local gun laws. Her attack on me is contradicted by her own voting record!

I pray John Warner steps down. At 80 years of age, he is too old to effectively relate to and represent the needs of his constituents. As a career government employee, who has been in the Senate for 30 years, its about time for him to step aside. His continued presence only means a further erosion of the rights of Virginian’s to his nanny state ideals.

Plus, it means Tom Davis, that no good fence sitting waffler of a congressman would leave the house to run against him. If he were to do that, one of two things will certainly happen. Davis will loose in the primary to a conservative (mostly likely from Newport News) who will then run as a Pat Robertson candidate and lose. Or Davis - a gun banning bigot with the best of them - will loose the Senate race to what is most likely a pro gun Democrat.

Either way, we win. At worse, Davis will likely be replaced by a Super Liberal democrat, but then at least they will tell us where they stand.

Throw The Republicans Out

At least here in Fairfax County.

I got a letter last week asking me to contribute to the local Republican Party. Up until recently, I was an active member and a local precinct captain for the party inside the beltway. I told them to fuck off.

Sadly, between that gun banning bigot Tom Davis, the Appropriations criminal Frank Wolf, and the political wind vane Sen. Warner (not to mention the embarrassment that was Senator Macaca himself), its been tough enough to find a reason to like our Congressional representation.

Its even worse at the state level, with Republican’s proudly claiming credit for the single most corrupt piece of lawmaking I’ve witnessed in a long time.

The labor pains were coming, so Jessica Hodges got going. The 26-year-old bank teller from Burke sped toward Inova Fairfax Hospital, but before she got there, the law got her — 57 mph in a 35 zone. Reckless driving.

Hodges’s labor pains subsided — they turned out to be a false alarm — but the agony from her ticket is mounting. She was found guilty of the July 3 offense and given a $1,050 civil fee on top of a judge-imposed $100 fine and court costs, making her one of the first to be hit with Virginia’s new “abusive driver fees,” which have been greeted by widespread public outrage.

Yes, you got that right. Republicans - not only are they now the racist, homophobic, and anti woman party, but they are also the party against delivering babies in hospitals. I guess the Democratic image of them as the barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen party really does make some sense.

Of course, simply being out of touch with reality isn’t enough to cause something to be “the single most corrupt piece of lawmaking I’ve seen in a long time.”

No, that takes a special certain level of corruption.

Enter Delegate Dave Albo - Republican of Arlington.

His web page proudly proclaims his dedication to

Its interesting, isn’t it, how he orders those priorities. Seems the kick backs from the road construction and property development firms take priority over all else - including minimizing taxes and making Virginia safe for kids.

The fees, which range from $750 to $3,000, were passed by the General Assembly in the spring as part of a package aimed at funding scores of transportation projects. Backers said the fees would both raise money and improve highway safety by targeting the state’s worst drivers — those guilty of severe traffic offenses such as DUI, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

How else to explain his authorship of this atrocious legislation.

Well, there is always something else to explain it. Back to the Washington Post.

Anger and exasperation have been common sentiments recently in Fairfax General District Court, where fee-facing drivers such as Hodges have started to join the daily swarm of traffic offenders. After waiting hours to give their side of the story to judges — several of whom seemed just as annoyed with the fees as defendants — many nevertheless left owing enormous sums that they said would be difficult to pay.

Those lucky enough to live out of state or to have been pulled over before the fees went into effect July 1 — the “magic date,” as one judge called it — escaped the penalties, as did many who hired attorneys who were able to argue for lesser charges or continuances.

Yep, why not kill two birds with one stone.

You see, Delegate Albo, brainchild behind this legislation is not only a corrupt Delegate out to get kick backs from construction firms . . . . . he’s also one of the states leading traffic ticket lawyers.

Mr. Albo is the co-founder of Albo & Oblon, which is one of Virginia’s 75 largest law firms. The firm practices employment law, government contracts law, business litigation, and criminal/traffic law.

No conflict of interest there, heh??

God bless virginia

Driving back from the beach, and having just crossed into Virginia from North Carolina I stopped at the welcome center for a pee break

And to get a map and try to plot a course home which might avoid the inevitable 95 traffic.

Had a nice conversation with the two wonderful women working at the rest stop about 95 traffic and the need for a wider interstate (or another interstate) and how nice of a drive it is to Culpepper.

And not a word was said (by anyone) about the full size Colt 1911A1 strapped to my hip…though the guy (from Jersey) parked next to me did drop his mouth open in shock when I got out of the car.

Heh

Jeffrey A. Taylor, U.S. attorney for the District, said in a statement late yesterday that his office concluded that the essential elements of the charge could not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Among other things, lawyers said, prosecutors would had to have shown that Thompson knew he had the gun.

That would be the charges against Jim Webb aid Phillip Thompson. I’ve got to search him out and buy him a drink one of these days.

Some are certain to ask, would the average person be treated so fairly??

But Lou Cannon, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1, which represents the Capitol Police, was disappointed.

“I can’t say it’s political, but something that smells like a fish usually is a fish,” Cannon said. “It sends mixed messages about whether there are double standards.”

And yes, it does. But Mr. Cannon, those mixed signals aren’t Thompson or Webb’s fault. Their fault lies entirely with the bigoted mayor of DC, Adrian Fenty, and his cronies in the District government.

The District has one of the nation’s strictest gun laws, permitting only law enforcement officers to carry handguns in the city. Prosecutors have typically not accepted ignorance of the city law as a defense.

A pox on all of them I say.

Throw them out and return DC to its rightful place as the home of liberty and a federal district for all Americans.

Like we didn’t see this coming . . .

If you will recall, last summer my former congressman Tom Davis (Worthless RINO-VA):

co-wrote a forceful letter warning Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) that switching to an underground route in Tyson’s could jeopardize federal funding for the 23-mile line. The warnings, repeated in later meetings, persuaded Kaine to reject a tunnel in September.

Virginia “may very well be rolling the dice on the future of this project,” warned the letter from Davis and Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.). “Simply put, we are concerned about the long-term viability of the project with any decision that could delay it.”

Now, post election and pushing for his bigoted and incompetent wife, Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis (Corrupt RINO-Fairfax), to be a State Senator (and with an eye on the U.S. Senate himself), we see the new Tom Davis

Last weekend, Davis appeared at a rally of tunnel supporters in Vienna, wearing a pro-tunnel sticker and declaring that elected officials must do everything they can to determine whether an underground route is possible. He said yesterday that he is building congressional support for preserving federal funding for the project if it switches to a tunnel.

Is this guy John Kerry, or what?!?!?

Really, the only thing surprising about the whole episode is that Tom “Fence Sitter Extraordinaire” Davis was willing to take any firm position in this matter (let alone two completely contradictory ones).

As a resident of the McLean/Tyson’s area (and a longtime member of the Fairfax Republican Party) I am thankful that the man who will defeat his worthless wife, former delegate Chap Petersen, has been with us all along on the issue.

“I guess if you take both sides of an issue you can never be wrong,” Petersen said. “It seems to me people want to get credit for both sides. They want to be seen supporting a tunnel but not stop and interrupt the process, and the process at this point is building elevated rail.”

Davis of course

“I don’t think that’s a flip-flop. That’s being a responsible official,” he said.

Like I said, Kerry-esque.

Chap’s getting the free ads and commentary (and whatever McLean Area Republican ground support and financial support I can muster to help defeat the Bigot Devolites Davis. Still looking for a candidate willing to take down Tom “Flip Flop” Davis himself.)

Guns In Schools?

How ’bout when their not in schools?

Some folks in the Virginia legislature think that school administrators should be able to expand their gun prohibiting ways to other - non school buildings. Luckily, the Virginia Citizen’s Defense League was able to once again stand up for our rights and now it looks like Virginia has at least one worthwhile Republican (unlike, say, Tom Davis or his wife)

Last year, the General Assembly considered a bill, requested by York County Schools, to ban the possession of firearms anywhere a school board meets. When that failed, school officials sought the legal opinion of Attorney General Bob McDonnell.

“It is my opinion that the Code of Virginia does not grant to the York County School Board the authority to prohibit the possession of firearms at school board meetings that are not held on school property,” McDonnell wrote in a Jan. 29 letter to York County Attorney James E. Barnett.

Here’s where you come in.

The Virginia Pilot is running the following poll:

Should school boards be allowed to prohibit the possession of firearms at board meetings held outside school grounds?

Go there and vote no! (or yes, if your a bigot)

With Republicans Like These, Who Needs Democrats

The other day I asked if I could still consider myself a Republican.

Seems Virginia incompetent Congressman Tom Davis’s (RINO-McLean) wife wants to seal the deal.

State Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, R-Fairfax, is sponsoring the bill that gun control advocates contend would close what they call a loophole that allows people to buy firearms from unlicensed dealers without a background check at gun shows. Similar measures have died in past legislatures — last year, a proposal pushed by state Sen. Henry L.Marsh III, D-Richmond, died in the Senate Courts of Justice Committee.

Davis described her bill “as not about taking away anybody’s Second Amendment rights” but a “commonsense bill.”

Bullshit. Your trying to prevent me for selling my guns. Your trying to prevent me from buying new guns. Your trying to put gun shows - and the dealers they support - out of business.

And, lest you think this is just some politician acting out of the good of her own misguided heart - think again. The commie mommies are pulling the strings on this one again.

The measure has failed to pass in previous years, but that does not sway supporters such as Jim Sollo, vice president for Virginians Against Handgun Violence.

“We’re going to keep bringing this bill up until it passes,” he said.

Never one to pass up a dead body, Davis somehow is equating the tragedy in Pennsylvania with taking away my guns.

Similar bills have died in the Senate for the past four years, but Davis said numerous school shootings last year and a shooting spree outside a northern Virginia police station that killed two officers may help to change her colleagues’ minds.

VCDL’s latest report has more, including this bit of reporting (which they will post video of and which you won’t see in the papers)

The highlight of the day was when Senator Devolites Davis (Senator
DD) held a press conference on her bill to close the non-existent
‘gun show loophole.’

We decided that we should attend that press conference with our
bright orange “Guns Save Lives” buttons.

About 25 of us headed to the press conference and we outnumbered the
bill’s supporters!

While waiting for the press conference to begin, the press cameras
were panning our way and some of the press came over to interview us.

The entire conference was taped by Matt Gottshalk, who is doing a
professional promotional video for VCDL free of charge. I am SOOOOO
glad Matt was there taping and I think you will agree:

Senator DD said to the press, “This is not about taking away anyone’s
Second Amendment rights.”

After she spoke, the next speaker was S. Buford Scott with Scott &
Stringfellow, an investment banking firm in Richmond associated with
anti-gun BB&T (boy, is that a surprise).

Mr. Scott proceeded to say that, “If the matter were left up to me, I
would REQUIRE the registration of ALL firearms in the whole United
States.”

He went on to state that he wanted us to be like Canada, where all
guns are registered!

FINALLY, the TRUTH from the dark side about their FULL agenda.

I appreciate Mr. Scott’s candor and will share it with the Senate
Courts of Justice committee when the gun show bill comes before them!

He then proceeded to come up with a survey where 85% wanted this kind
of gun control and 82% wanted this other kind of gun control and on
and on. All of his numbers were over 70% in favor of gun control!
The firm that did the survey was here in Richmond and I was left with
the impression that it was affiliated with either Mr. Scott or his
firm.

As soon as the press conference was over, the press headed over to
interview VCDL, leaving Senator DD and the other antis standing there
without much to do. ;-)

Board member Bruce Jackson and I were surrounded by press. Bruce was
in an optimum position relative to the location of the press and got
most of the questions. He did a great job. EM Dave Van was also
interviewed and handled it very well, appearing on FOX news in
Richmond.

We are going to post some great still photos from Lobby Day and also
the video of Senator DD, Mr. Scott, and the Q&A that followed on the
VCDL site. I will advise when you can view them.
