Viva La Revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m praying for the Iranian people.

As Uncle points out,

The pictures are amazing. People are throwing rocks at snipers. And the mullahs can’t stop the signal. The trouble for the citizens is that they will be crushed when the government decides it has had enough. That is happening now.

I wish them the best. But, more so, I wish they had rifles.

Interestingly, the NY Times editorial page (well, at least Thomas Friedman) also understands this dynamic.

Second, even if defeated electorally, the Islamists and their regimes have a trump card: guns. Guns trump cellphones. Bang-bang beats tweet-tweet. The Sunni Awakening in Iraq succeeded because the moderates there were armed. I doubt Ahmadinejad will go peacefully.

But of course, no but the government needs guns, right????

  2. I heard that under the 1979 revolution that the doctrine was that the population were property. Property has no right to self defense or to arms. So of course they would not have guns. Now that the Iranians are contesting their status as property and want to be free men, thry need to get armed.

Bad planning. If they had thought ahead and figured on being denied at the ballot box they should have planned for a takeover including the comunication centers and guns.

But 2 mill people have the advantage of law of numbers even if 20 K IRG are going to impose order at the end of a barrell.

If they are determined 20 L IRG will not stop them and IRG will be overran. We will see how determined the rebels are. After that confrontation, peaceful protest is over and the People have to decide if they eant to force a regime change or not.

This is a game played on the streets of the cities but the real show down is in Qom. This a fight between Rafasgahani and Khamanei for the supreme power.

  3. As Dan Rather reported from Tiananman Square, “The ones with the guns are in charge”.

Seems to be a constant, rather than a variable.
