Buy A Gun Day
Its coming. And I’ve got some cash burnign a hole in my pocket. I was thinking I might get a handgun, then thought – with black rifle prices HIGH and hunting prices LOW – I might look at getting a Fox or Parker or LC Smith side by side.
But then, I thought maybe a SIG 556.
Anyone have thoughts on them?

Saw a Parker side by side last month…old but beautiful shotgun. A bit pricey at 1200 bucks though. I would be satisfied to find an older Savage/Stephens side by side or a Model 12 pump

I saw an A-5 Sweet Sixteen calling to me from the used rack, but that Sig is pretty bitchin’ – it would make Sarah Brady cry and and Dianne Feinstein pull out her hair.

Sig 556 is overpriced (I saw one listed at $2000 yesterday), heavy and poorly balanced IMO.

+1 on Flashman’s comment. The iron sights also suck, but I’d imagine if you’re gonna shell out that kind of money for one, you’d probably use aftermarket optics anyway.

as far as the weight and balance, I actually like it. Haven’t fired one yet, but I have held one. really liked the fit alot.
regarding the other part of your comment:
That might be the quote of the year. Considering how overpriced EVERYTHING is. Its one of the interesting things about the SIG. Its price hasn’t really increased very much relative to the increases I’ve seen elsewhere. Heck, Say Uncle reported he saw a Bushmaster for OVER $2,000. If thats the standard, I’d say a SIG for $2k is a deal (though the one I am looking at is significantly cheaper than that)

Top notch cold forged manufacturing process, appears to be utterly reliable (its a SIG what do you expect), no problems regarding magazines or ammo, sights are excellent and weapons lends itself to sights. Drool.
Or you can buy a AR-15 and have it jam. Or an AK clone and pray you can spray whatever your aiming at.
