A Republican No More
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NATIONAL POLITICS AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE LOCAL PARTY
Attended Virginia’s 10 District Convention on Saturday, where I hung with my buddy Ken Cuccinelli and went through a Florida recount like ordeal for having the nerve to stand in line for 15 minutes at the wrong table before being told where I needed to go to register (There were a dozen of us) and then told registration is closed.
In any case, after 45 minutes of testimony, votes, revotes, and bitter fighting, I was passed on a 4-3 vote from the Registration Committee - only to be greeted by a mass of bigots, single issue “pro life” radicals, racists, and the fighting Ron Paul Revolutionaries (who lost, big time, by the way).
In the 2 hours I then sat and listened between finally registering and being able to cast my ballot - I came to a conclusion. The Republican Party - the party of Reagan and of TR and of Eisenhower and Lincoln is no longer the party for me. Sure, I’ll vote (and work hard) to elect John McCain, but I have no desire to be associated with these myopic, self absorbed lunatics anymore
