I get in at 11 am San Fran time today. Assuming it takes me an hour to get from the airport to my hotel and checked in, what’s the coolest thing to do/see in an afternoon downtown?

I want to check out the Asian Art Museum, and get down to the Warf.

Anything else? Where do I go to catch a glimpse of the bizare???

  1. Asian Art is cool, also DeYoung Museum. You might have a bit of trouble getting The AAM AND Fisherman’s Wharf in all in the same afternoon, though. Especially if you do museums like I do.

    For the bizarre? The Haight!

  2. Are you in Frisco? The Castro Dist. is bazaar. Last time I was there all I could think of was “engine don’t fail me now, engine don’t fail me now”. I was in full leathers on my Yamaha Vmax and felt like a bunny in the wolve’s den.

  3. Try the Marine recruiting station. I hear there is some commotion going on over there that shouldn’t be missed.

  4. Not to worry, in San Francisco, the circus is in town every day.

  5. We like going to Cliff House, just past the western edge of GG Park, and looking southwest across 3,000 miles of Pacific Ocean at Hawaii — and having a Bloody Mary because the weather is usually “that kind” of weather. :-)
But it looks like the skies cleared up for a day, at least down here on the Peninsula.
Try lunch or dinner (no reservations taken, you go and have to wait at the bar) at the Tadich Grill downtown - it’s the oldest restaurant in the city and has a classic style.

  6. Cool!

Will try the Tadich Grill tonight. Had fantastic sushi last night.
