update
Per the comments: Thanks to a host of folks, I’ve learned its a stink bug.
btw, considering I took it while I was trying to kill it, ya got to admit thats a pretty decent picture. Would have liked to get a shot from the front, but I didn’t want to risk it.

It’s a Bug. It goes “Squish”.
I think I’ve seen one myself.
It might be this. It looks slightly different, though.

Here in Texas we call have a generic name for this group of beetles - stink bugs. There is a reason for this, of course. They can spray you with a stinky liquid. Handle carefully. Other than the stink they are harmless.

I’m a little slow, I guess, since Curt beat me to it. I was gonna say it looks like a stinkbug to me, although the ones I’m used to seeing are green.

Thanks Sailorcurt and Mr. McZombie. Sounds like you got it.
This is actually the second one we found this winter in the house (the other one we saw in December I let out the front door, wondering if this is the same guy). We actually thought this was a moth, and my wife freaked out. He had a very hard exoskeleton but didn’t try to fly away from me once I caught him. I flushed him nevertheless.

We see them every once in a while around here in Hampton Roads. I knew it was a stinkbug right away but I had to look it up to find out exactly what kind it was.
