I Can’t Predict Women

That would be me.

Spent an enjoyable morning shooting wobble trap and skeet with Bitter and Sebastian. (Bitter had a very unique, gender specific, “mechanical” issue occur. She promised to blog about it . . . )

While sitting around between rounds we had a discussion about, what else, firearms and hobbies and the what not. I informed them that my wife was getting annoyed with the gun thing. Not that I needed to get rid of them all, but that she was upset I was spending too much money on them what with the kids in private school and her desire for a new kitchen and some other improvements in the house. Her message was, simply, No More Guns!!!

Story continued after the fold

Then I got home and was told I needed to help her and her mom pick out a 9mm handgun for her fathers birthday present. Looks like he might end up getting one of these sweet Sig Sauer P225s.

Sweet!

  1. If you can’t buy ‘em for yourself…. its nice to help other people at least :)

My wife said “no guns” as well, for pretty much the same reasons… But I figure I can do up a few custom websites on the side, and pay for my hobby that way. Plus, I’ve found when buying something like a gun, it is better to ask forgiveness from SWWBO than to ask permission.

  2. My wife wants the new kitchen too. $15k for wood boxes puts a dent in the gunner’s lifestyle, doesn’t it?

  3. I hear ya. However, my wife is no longer surprised (or even bothered, really) to discover that I have a rifle that she wasn’t aware of. So, as long as the family finances remain in order, it doesn’t cause a problem. Of course, I’ve been spending most of my fun money recently on high power competition gear and reloading components for that, which is somehow different, and thus okay.

  4. I’m so glad I don’t have these issues. I don’t say anything about her shopping, the wife doesn’t say anything mine. Except when it comes time to figure out where to put it all…
