Bloggin The FMX Tour

Live

At the Verizon Center in DC

2nd Row Seats.

Its intermission right now, lots like professional wrestling … Kids, rednecks, storylines, screaming MCs, idiot performers, and between match interviews.

But, way cooler than the WWE.

BMX stunts

Motobikes

All jumps - spinning helicopters, one handed seat grabs and lots of rad flips

Pictures to follow when I get home.

Not my thing, but the smile on my sons face is worth a million dollars

UPDATE

Here’s the pics. It was lots like the circus but you can see the delight in a 5 year olds eyes

Question of the day

Jack Webb (not Jim) from Springfield, Virginia who writes in today’s Washington Post

As we all know, one is free to state any position one desires on any subject one desires: political, religious, philosophical, whatever (unless you’re on a college campus and express conservative views, in which case all bets are off). The Founders would have recognized my right to stand on the corner and express all manner of nasty and nice things about whatever struck my fancy, and to hand out printed material.

But that right also applies to radio, TV and the Internet. These media are all a subset of forums of speech. They, too, were unknown by the Founders. Are they to be places free from First Amendment rights? Of course not.

As they say, read the whole thing.

Friday Morning Song Lyric

It returns!

Thanks Sirius Radio and the Jam! station which was playing a classic Phish show from 1988, the first year I saw and fell in love with what I will always believe was the greatest bar band ever.

Sure they were a bit of a hippy band, but it was as disgusting as when they started breaking big post Horde, post Spin Doctors, post Dead. At that time, like Widespread Panic, it was just a good mix of folks rocking out.

Sirius was playing Col. Forbin’s Ascent - from the epic Gamehendge - but with the Vols crushing Ohio State right now I’m feeling a bit funky and that requires a song which would make the chili peppers proud

Llama

[Many years after the overthrow of Wilson, a rebel soldier crouching
high on a hilltop above the war torn forests of Gamehendge spots a
group of loyalists approaching from their lakeside encampment below.

His trusty llama stands beside him, loaded down with a canvas pack
that holds two large bazooka type guns to the animal’s sides. Near the
man sits a cache of blastoplast, each capable of destroying the entire
hillside in an instant…]

Sunrise over the turquoise mountains
Messenger birds in sight
They came up through the valley
Both sides at a time
Through the cold steady rain
Raid!
I bend down
Poke a double decker on a llama
Taboot
Llama, Taboot Taboot
Trigger a blastoplast, ramshackle laker recedes
I start to run
It was the loudest thing I’d ever heard
And I knew my time had come
To enter the delta

Leave it on press [2x]
Depress, Depress
Llama, Taboot Taboot
Leave it on press
Depress, Depress
Llama, Taboot Taboot

Llama, Taboot Taboot
Llama, Taboot Taboot
Taboot Taboot

My travel schedule over the next four weeks includes trips to North Carolina, Sacremento, Des Moines (which is bumping a trip to St. Louis and the NRA meeting :( ) and Kansas City. May brings a trip to Chicago and San Diego. June will see me back in Des Moines. And at some point in here (before July 4th), I will probably head up to Minnesota and Wisconsin and Dallas as well as a trip NJ to visit family and two visits to Chattanooga.

Somewhere in there I also need to work.
