A Webb of Problems

Apparently, I missed Peggy Noonan’s Wall Street Journal column last week on Jim Webb. As usually, its a doozy.

It is true that Mr. Webb has said he supports the Second Amendment, and much is being made of this. But that doesn’t strike me as significant, or rather it strikes me as significant only in what it underscores: The Democratic Party has lost on the right to bear arms. They know it. It’s why they don’t speak of gun control anymore on the national stage. It used to be one of their primary issues. They went as far as they could in terms of control - licensing, background checks, etc. - but on what was once their obvious desire to make private gun ownership in America illegal, the Democratic Party has, in the past dozen years, quietly, almost soundlessly, caved in.

If only it were so true.

Its Not Rocket Science, People

One other thing that transpired during the show was a father being interviewed. He was saying that lawmakers needed to make tougher laws to protect the kids. When he said that, I felt the hair stand up on the back of my neck. To me it’s like anything else, why don’t we start enforcing the ones we have now. Not create new ones.

Seriously

Don’t Delay The Beaver Shave

As Heard on the Hill (subscription required):

“Who wants a beaver?” asked DeLay, whom attendees said looked happier and more relaxed than ever. Hoots and hollers followed.

The Hammer continued with lines such as, “Everybody likes beaver, even women” and, as a couple of people in the crowd recall, “The best thing about it, it’s a shaved beaver!”

Evil?

What’s evil?

I guess it all depends on what your definition of evil is. If you define it right, especially as you go along, you can pretty much assure your aren’t evil even if, in fact, you are evil.
